National Service Personnel Faces Court Over Alleged GH₵303,950 Theft

A 25-year-old National Service Personnel, Jesper Kobina Mensah, has been charged with theft before the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly misappropriating funds belonging to a customer of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited.

According to the prosecution, Mensah is accused of illegally transferring GH₵303,950 from the customer’s account while serving at the bank. The alleged offence was detected following unusual account activity, prompting an internal investigation that later involved law enforcement authorities.

He was subsequently arrested and arraigned before the court, where he was formally charged. The case has since been adjourned to allow for further proceedings.

The incident has raised renewed concerns over financial fraud and insider misconduct within Ghana’s banking sector. Analysts and customer advocacy groups continue to call for stronger systems of oversight, accountability, and digital security to prevent similar breaches.
